Parenting Support for ADHD & Intense Kids
in Keller, Texas

A parent-only group using Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT)

Parenting a child with ADHD or big emotions can feel exhausting.

Many parents tell us they feel stuck in daily power struggles, overwhelmed by constant behavior challenges, or unsure what actually helps. You love your child deeply, but some days, parenting feels really hard.

This group was created to support you.

Who This Group Is For:

This group is designed for parents and caregivers of children ages 3-10 who:

  • Have ADHD or are suspected to have ADHD

  • Experience big emotions, impulsivity, or intense behavior

  • Get stuck in frequent power struggles at home

  • Need more connection — not just more consequences

You may feel tired, frustrated, or unsure if what you’re doing is helping. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure this out by yourself.

What This Group Is (and Is Not)

This is a parent-only group. Children do not attend sessions.

In this group, parents:

  • Meet weekly with a small group of other caregivers

  • Receive support, guidance, and practical tools

  • Learn ways to respond instead of react

  • Practice skills at home with their child in short, structured ways

This is not child therapy and not a traditional parenting class focused on charts, rewards, or discipline systems alone. The focus is on strengthening the parent-child relationship, which often leads to meaningful changes in behavior over time.

What Parents Will Learn

Parents in this group will learn how to:

  • Reduce daily power struggles and emotional blowups

  • Build a stronger connection with their child, even during hard moments

  • Support emotional regulation and self-esteem

  • Feel more confident and less overwhelmed as a parent

  • Shift from constant correction to calmer, more intentional responses

Many parents notice that as the connection improves, behavior becomes easier to manage at home and at school.

Why This Approach Works Well for ADHD & Intense Kids

Children with ADHD often receive frequent correction and negative feedback, which can strain the parent-child relationship over time. When stress builds on both sides, behavior challenges can escalate.

This group focuses on:

  • Strengthening the connection before addressing the behavior

  • Helping parents see their child through a more compassionate lens

  • Creating predictable, supportive interactions that reduce stress for everyone

When parents feel more confident and regulated, children often feel safer, more understood, and better able to cooperate.

What Is Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT)?

This group is based on Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), an evidence-based parent training model grounded in play therapy and attachment research.

In CPRT:

  • Parents learn child-centered play skills to use during short, weekly playtimes at home

  • Parents practice these skills and receive support and feedback in group

  • Skills learned during play generalize into everyday parenting situations

CPRT focuses on strengthening the parent-child relationship as the foundation for change — rather than focusing only on correcting behavior.

This group follows the CPRT model and meets clinical and academic training requirements.

Group Structure

  • Parent-only group (children do not attend)

  • Small group setting

  • Weekly sessions

  • Led by therapists trained in play therapy and CPRT

  • Designed specifically with ADHD and intense kids in mind
