When your child is struggling, whether it’s with focus, emotions, school, or friendships, it can be hard to know what’s really going on. A psychological assessment can help bring clarity, direction, and peace of mind.
At Reach Counseling, we offer comprehensive psychological evaluations for children, teens, and adults to help identify challenges, understand strengths, and guide next steps for care and support.

Meet Dr. Amy Dodd
Dr. Dodd brings over 15 years of experience conducting psychological assessments for children, teens, and adults. Her warm, collaborative approach helps families feel supported throughout the process. She specializes in autism and ADHD evaluations, emotional and behavioral assessments, and psychoeducational testing for learning differences.
Dr. Dodd’s goal is to help families gain clarity, find answers, and feel empowered with practical next steps.
What Is a Psychological Assessment?
A psychological assessment helps uncover how your child thinks, learns, feels, and behaves. It provides a clearer picture of what’s happening beneath the surface — so you can better understand your child’s needs at home and school.
Assessments may look at areas such as:
Attention and focus (including ADHD testing)
Social communication and development (Autism evaluations)
Emotional health (such as anxiety, depression, or mood regulation)
Learning strengths and challenges
Cognitive abilities and academic skills
Our approach is comprehensive and collaborative. Dr. Dodd gathers background information, reviews input from parents and teachers, and provides a full written report with practical recommendations.
What to Expect
The assessment process begins with a free phone consultation to make sure our services are a good fit for your child or teen’s needs. During this call, we’ll briefly discuss your concerns, answer your initial questions, and review what the evaluation process looks like.
Each assessment includes several steps, designed to give a complete understanding of your child or teen:
Intake Session – to discuss concerns, history, and goals. For minors under 12, this will just be for parents/caregivers.
Testing Sessions – 1–2 appointments using standardized tools and observations.
Feedback Session – a collaborative meeting to review results, discuss the diagnosis (if applicable), and explore recommendations.
You’ll walk away with a clear explanation of your child’s strengths and needs — and a personalized plan to help them succeed.
Most families complete the process in about 3–4 weeks from start to finish.
Pricing & Insurance
The cost of a full psychological assessment ranges from $2,000–$2,500, depending on the complexity and time required. Dr. Dodd is an out-of-network provider, and families can request a superbill to submit to insurance for potential reimbursement. A $450 deposit is required at the first intake appointment.
